THE PELOPONNESE
Maros Basil
Colour production by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), directed by Vassilis Maros with music by Stavros Xarchakos, exploring the landscape and history of the Peloponnese. The camera records archaeological sites, modern towns, and traditional occupations, from mountainous Arcadia to the rocky Mani peninsula. The film highlights the historical journey from Mycenae and Byzantium to the War of Independence in Nafplio and Navarino. Cultural continuity is presented through ancient drama at Epidaurus and the Olympic tradition at Olympia.
